8:26 pm - Lovely quiet Sunday
I did sleep late, and we had a late breakfast, and watched TV(both), read(me) and played Skyrim(J). J laughed at me, because I was sitting here reading, and all of a sudden, I hear a familiar voice - - Michael Hogan. I Googled it to make sure, but yes, Michael Hogan voiced a character in J's game.

I spent a little time outside today. It was in the upper 60s here, and sunny... very nice, and un-January like.

Tomorrow, I go back to work for 3 days, off 1 day, back to work for 3 more... I love long weekends, but I've gotten so spoiled, I can't stand to work more than a couple of days at a time.

I'm thinking of talking to Briana about some time off in March. J and I were planning to go away for our 14th anniversary this April. While we are doing better financially, we would like to be doing even better, so we're waiting until next year. I have a week's vacation, and I always take the weekend of Peaches to Beaches off, so I thought I would take 2 vacation days, one each week, so I could have 8 days in a row off. Yeah, let's see if I can vague that up for you. I work 4 days a week, so if I work Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and take a vacation day for Tuesday, then my regular 3 days off(Wednesday, Thursday, Friday) that week, then my regular 3 days off the next week(Saturday, Sunday, Monday), and my other vacation day, I could get a nice break. We'll see. Briana's really good about working with me. I just hate leaving Elouise stuck with everything for so long.

But, I haven't had a vacation in the 3 years(4 this October) I've worked at Wal Mart. Of course, I had a pretty long one before I got the new job. I was thinking the other day, I was off nearly a year on leave after I had my surgery and while I had my treatment, then 3 more years, first while I was looking after Mom, then while I couldn't find a job. Minus the 3 months I spent back at my old job in 2008, of course. I am so glad not to be there anymore.

11:19 pm - Long but nice day
We got home less than an hour ago. But we had a nice visit with my aunt and uncle, and J's dad. I will be sleeping late tomorrow.

10:01 pm - Not a bad first day off
Considering I spent most of it on the phone with Jan! She just came home from staying with her cousin at the hospital. I had just gotten to bed last night when she called. Her police friend, Debbie, didn't show up yesterday, and now she's worried she's not interested. She was pretty upset, in one of those "no one wants me and never will" kind of moods. She sounded better when we hung up, but still... I worry. And I had a hard time getting to sleep. It started raining, and that finally put me out.

Then she called and woke me up this morning, but she was in a much better mood, so I can't complain.

I did some laundry and cleaning, and went to the grocery store for stuff to fix chicken pot pie, which I did this afternoon.

Ellen, one of J's coworkers, brought by her dad's computer for J to fix. And there is bad news where Ellen is concerned - - she got another job in the plant and is transferring, and they won't be replacing her, so J only has Desmond to rely on again. He is not happy.

Tonight we watched TV until Jan called again - - we spent on the hour on the phone this time, and she sounds great tonight. I keep telling her not to get discouraged, and to be patient. Anyone who knows me knows how funny that is coming from me - - I'm very impatient.

So, not a bad day, all in all. Tomorrow we visit my aunt and uncle, and J's dad.

8:19 pm - Another nice day
It was a nice, and short, day at work. I went in at 11, and because of OT, got to leave at 5:30.

I ran by Goodwill for new books. I've been rereading Alice Hoffman all month because I'm out of new books, or at least ones I want to read. No other major finds there.

I also went by Dollar Tree, hoping for cheap Valentine decorations. I didn't really find anything, but still managed to spend $13.

Next was Wal Mart because I forgot we needed fluorescent bulbs for the bathroom, and I forgot to get them before I left work.

Then I went by and got chicken, which J requested, for dinner. And *gasp* they had no cole slaw... what's up with that?

I am off the next three days. Tomorrow, I will do any chores that need doing, Saturday we're visiting relatives and Sunday, I'm hoping to do *nothing*.

Speaking of relatives, and friends, on Facebook... there's a rant coming. Perhaps some people will defriend me. I do not care. I try not to get political, but people keep posting anti-Obama, untrue stuff, and I have started to retort. And yes, Obama is certainly not a perfect president, but when you look at the Republicans running this year... I can't fathom how anyone could believe they would be good for this country.

9:06 pm - Another uneventful day
Both at work and here. We had pizza, breadsticks and cheesecake for dinner, and watched Twister(J got a Blu Ray dvd combo pack of it, Poseidon and The Perfect Storm the other day). As soon as I do this, I'm going to bed. But, yay! I'm off tomorrow.

8:14 pm - Another lovely day here
We slept late, I reread Fortune's Daughter by Alice Hoffman(I've been rereading a lot of her stuff lately), played gofer for J while he changed the oil, then I went up to get sausage, potatoes and corn for a corn boil, and we watched some TV. And it's raining! Not a bad day at all.

current mood: calm

8:16 pm - Lazy day here
Today was my second day off - - I'm back to work tomorrow - - and since we did everything yesterday, cleaning and laundry, and I even mopped the kitchen floor! - - I didn't do much today.

I watched the season finale Hell on Wheels, and I would make a joke about the preacher losing his head, but I'm sure [info]rhymephile might be the only one to get it.

I also decorated for Valentine's Day, in that I put out two Valentine trees. I used my tall skinny fake pine tree that I use for Easter, put it in the living room and decorated it with red heart ornaments and red tinsel. I also put my mom's tiny Valentine tree I got for her years ago, which has tiny hearts and cherubs as decorations. It was just a cheap ABC Distributing tree, but she loved it - - she loved decorating for holidays as much as I do.

Other than that... I read, and oh, that reminds me. I read a lovely Charles/Erik story called Metamorphosis, which features the Butterfly Circus, which I was ignorant about, until I Wiki'd it. My only complaint... how do you have a fic concerning a circus *and* a freakshow and not have Azazel in it somewhere? Someone should write an AzRi version of this, like *now*. I covet it.

One other thing, does anyone ever get those annoying bumps on your tongue? They're called lie/lye bumps? I used to get them only occasionally, but now, it's like a couple a week. Does anyone know something that actually helps?

10:22 pm - The TV post
How much did I love seeing Nic Lea back on TV? Supernatural *and* another of my favorites, Once Upon a Time! He looked great in both. I miss seeing him(nearly!) every week. Also nice seeing Jason Dohring(my beloved Josef from Moonlight) as Cronos on SPN.

J suggested we try Sherlock tonight, and we both really enjoyed it. Sherlock reminded me of the Doctor quite a bit. Loved Watson. Martin Freeman is good.

Sad that Hell on Wheels is over for this season. I really like it. I'm saving that last ep to watch tomorrow morning.

J and I were discussing Bones and Castle the other day. I still love both, probably Bones just a little more. J says he definitely prefers Bones, he feels like Castle has run its course for him. I pointed out that that is unusual, considering Bones has actually jumped the shark(if we go by the Moonlighting/X Files definition of that, and he still prefers it.

9:34 pm - Firefox is behaving!
J did his magic last night and it's been doing fine. He installed Google Chrome as a backup.

There's news on several fronts, but I'm tired and I'm going to bed. Perhaps a real update tomorrow.

I will say I had really weird dreams last night, one involving lots of snakes, one of which was, seriously, Nagini sized. Also, there was a tornado in another dream, and some guy broke into the house(the old house in Rhine, I hardly ever dream we're living in this one) in yet another dream. I had an active night.

8:01 pm - Firefox crashing?
Is anyone who's using Firefox having a problem with it crashing? It did okay for about a month and no problems, and now it seems to be crashing every few minutes. It also uses a ridiculous amount of memory all of a sudden. Any ideas?

7:48 pm - Last night's Once Upon a Time...
Made me love Rumpelstiltskin/Mr Gold even more than I already did.

And don't forget, next week is the Hansel and Gretel ep with Nick Lea!

8:41 pm - Saw a really good movie today
Good, but could've been better. It's Bloodworth, and it's on Netflix Instant Watch. I had been curious about it.

Kris Kristofferson plays a country singer, EF Bloodworth, who comes home after being away 40 years. He left his wife(Frances Conroy, who I love!), and sons, Boyd(Dwight Yoakam), Warren(Val Kilmer, who really reigned in the crazy for this role), and Brady(W Earl Brown, who was my beloved Dan Dority on Deadwood, and who did *not* reign in the crazy). Reece Thompson, an actor I'd never seen, plays Fleming, Boyd's son, and Hilary Duff, who is not nearly as annoying as she was as a child, plays Raven, his love interest.

It's some serious Southern gothic, and I enjoyed it. My complaint is that there wasn't enough - - it seems like it might've been heavily edited, and we find out next to nothing about some stuff, especially Boyd and why he does what he does, except that there's a whole lot of crazy in his family.

The movie mainly focuses on Fleming, the only one who has a good relationship with EF, possibly because he never knew him before. I don't want it to spoil it in case anyone sees it, but it's worth your time.

I want to read the book, Provinces of Night, by William Gay, which will hopefully tell me the rest of the story. Oh, W Earl Brown wrote the screenplay.

9:09 pm - A couple more holiday thank yous
Thanks to [info]pride_of_erin for the adorable card! *hugs*'

And to [info]mrs_sweetpeach for the beautiful card and a brilliant story to go with it. Did you write it, or [info]jebra, or did you two collaborate? It was inspired.
